Energy for
the Caribbean
In the beginning of February 2010 sera has secured a
large order covering the supply of 8 dosing units for a new power plant
in Trinidad, which is being built by Ferrostaal for Trinidad Generation
Unlimited (TGU).
Feed water conditioning solved optimally
sera has been supplying systems to power plants for
decades. This has enabled us to incorporate our vast experience into
this large project. Boiler feed water needs to be conditioned with
chemicals in order to keep the pH value and water hardness stable. The
correct preparation of the solution to be dosed, as well as the correct
dosing of the chemicals are critical.
Great store was set in the preparation units of the concentrated
chemicals. Ammonia
water and trisodium phosphate are prepared in the required
concentrations with the help of special sera dosing
equipment. Six boilers in the plant are conditioned with the chemicals
thus ensuring an optimum operation.
Safety is a priority with us
The individually planned systems allow the safe handling of the partly
aggressive chemicals and ensure the protection of the environment due to
the effective sera safety system. We supply our system
technology ex works ready for an easy connection to the superset control
stand. This keeps additional work on site to a minimum.
The project engineers of Ferrostaal were convinced very quickly by the
complete compliance with all requirements, the coherent master plan and
the excellent cooperation during the tendering stage. They didn’t
hesitate to choose sera as their reliable partner and
system provider in the power plant field.
Power plant will go on line in 2011
Trinidad and Tobago are islands of the Lesser Antilles, forming the
Republic of Trinidad and Tobago with a population of 1.3 million people.
Trinidad is the most industrialized island in the Caribbean. Besides the
petrochemical industry there are a great number of food factories to
meet the local needs. The energy requirement has increased dramatically
during the past few years –due in no small part to new industrial
enterprises.
Phase 2 of the new 765 megawatt power plant (combined cycle operation)
is scheduled to go on line in July 2011 to help cover the increasing
energy demand of Trinidad for the future.
