A new approach to CIP Infrastructure

Aqua 05.03.2026

The Challenge

As part of the modernization of its CIP infrastructure, Bauer Natur dairy had to reorganize the supply of cleaning media for caustic and acid. The objective was to reliably and reproducibly supply a widely branched pipeline network with lengths of up to 100 meters.

The requirements were demanding: Cleaning is performed at 80 °C using 50% caustic soda and 50% nitric acid. These high concentrations place high demands on material resistance, dosing accuracy and flow performance. At the same time, capacity ranges from 1,000 l/h to 3,000 l/h had to be reliably covered. Without precise and stable media supply, consistent cleaning performance could not be ensured.

The sera Solution

Four dosing systems were installed on wall-mounted dosing panels and equipped with splash protection covers to ensure safe and maintenance-friendly integration into the existing infrastructure.

Centrifugal pumps with capacities of up to 4,000 l/h provide the required flow rates. In addition, motor-driven diaphragm pumps ensure precise dosing in the lower capacity range. The supply and injection of cleaning media are demand-based and integrated into the higher-level control system.

The clearly structured media supply ensures that caustic soda and nitric acid are introduced consistently and reproducibly throughout the entire pipeline network.

Customer Benefits

  • Reliable supply of a widely branched CIP pipeline system
  • Stable dosing of highly concentrated, aggressive cleaning media
  • Reliable coverage of different capacity ranges within one system
  • Safe and maintenance-friendly integration into existing systems

Summary

The modernized CIP infrastructure enables safe and reproducible supply of cleaning media and provides the basis for stable hygienic processes at Bauer Natur dairy.
