1. The Challenge

At Cambodia Brewery Ltd. in Phnom Penh, CIP cleaning is a critical factor for hygiene, product safety, and equipment availability. This process requires large quantities of caustic soda—a hazardous substance that poses significant safety risks during handling and logistics. Pre-mixed solutions delivered ready-to-use result in high transportation and storage costs and lock the facility into fixed concentrations. The company was looking for a solution that reduces costs, increases safety, and at the same time offers maximum flexibility in cleaning chemistry.

2. The sera Solution

sera supplied a caustic soda preparation station based on solid NaOH (pellets, flakes, powder) for the safe production of the cleaning solution on-site. The system consists of a stainless steel preparation tank with a stirrer as well as a spatially separated solid feed unit with a hopper and screw conveyor, ensuring that operating personnel do not work within the immediate danger zone of the exothermic reaction. The preparation tank is equipped with level and temperature monitoring as well as mechanical protection. The finished solution is transferred to a storage tank via a sera transfer system. For precise dosing into the cleaning process, a modular sera dosing system of the CVD type is additionally used.

3. Customer Benefits

  • Significantly lower costs for procurement, transport, and storage of cleaning chemicals
  • Increased workplace safety when handling caustic soda
  • Flexible adjustment of the concentration depending on cleaning requirements
  • Reliable and reproducible CIP cleaning process

4. Brief summary

The project demonstrates: Those who prepare cleaning chemicals on-site in a safe and controlled manner simultaneously gain in cost-effectiveness, flexibility, and operational safety.
