Filter aids - Reliable dosing of abrasive suspensions
In breweries, yeast and other turbidity particles are removed from the beer during filtration. This results in a bright, bright beer. Diatomaceous earth and other filter aids are usually used here. The turbidity stability can also be improved by using PVPP.
Challenges in the dosing of filter aids
- In most breweries, beer filtration and stabilisation is carried out using filter aids such as diatomaceous earth or PVPP. The aim of beer filtration is to achieve a bright, shiny beer with good turbidity stability.
- Kieselguhr and PVPP suspensions have an abrasive effect and are a mechanical strain on the materials used.
- The required dosing quantities vary between the filter precoat and the ongoing filtration process. These different performance variants must be covered by the same dosing pump.
The solution from sera
The peristaltic pumps from sera impress with low-maintenance technology, easy handling and a hygienic, food-safe design for flexible applications:
- No valves required: No additional installation parts such as valves are required, which would wear out quickly due to the abrasiveness of the medium.
- Longer service life: The slow running of the pumps ensures reduced stress on the hose and therefore enables longer service lives
- Food-safe materials: Complies with Regulation (EC) 1935/2004 and FDA standards.
- Easy handling: Hoses can be changed quickly.
- Hygienic process connection: Milk pipe fittings or tri-clamp connections.
- Dry running: The pumps have unlimited dry running.
Flexible performance classes
The peristaltic pumps are available in different versions:
- Delivery rate: 4 l/h to 13,000 l/h
- Max. Max. operating pressure: 10 bar
- Cleaning temperatures up to 80 °C
