Yeast - the most important employee in the brewery
"Yeast is the most important employee in a brewery" - a motto that many brewers and master brewers know. Because even the best wort is of little use if fermentation is impaired by inadequate yeast quality. The result: a beer that does not meet the desired quality standards.
Challenges in yeast dosing
- Breweries usually use liquid yeast suspensions, but stress factors can have a negative impact on yeast quality.
- Mechanical influences, known as shear forces, reduce yeast vitality and increase the proportion of dead yeast cells, which leads to a deterioration in foam stability.
- Consequences: Insufficient fermentation, poor foam formation, loss of quality and formation of off-flavours.
The solution from sera
The peristaltic pumps from sera enable reliable, hygienic and gentle yeast dosing with low shear forces and food-safe materials:
- Low shear forces: gentle pumping due to slow running of the rollers.
- No valves required: Avoids additional mechanical stress.
- Food-safe materials: Complies with Regulation (EC) 1935/2004 and FDA standards.
- Easy handling: Hoses can be changed quickly.
- Hygienic process connection: Milk pipe fittings or tri-clamp connections.
- Longer service life: The slow running of the pumps ensures reduced stress on the tubing and therefore enables longer service lives
Flexible performance classes
The peristaltic pumps are available in different versions:
- Delivery rate: 4 l/h to 13,000 l/h
- Max. Max. operating pressure: 10 bar
- Cleaning temperatures up to 80 °C
